How to Study
Strength of material is a very important subject you can not get good marks in GATE or any other exam without this subject. Initially reading from notes you may not understand much. So a combination of notes and a book is essential. You can take help of SK mondal’s notes which is also attached below, it has theory as well as old question of GATE and ESE. So it will be a mixture of these initially and later on you will automatically converge to particular topics from each material. In my case later on I made book as my sole refuge and would write every important point on the space available at top and bottom of page. Although coaching going students would prefer there own class notes.

Note: Links have been tested and they are working with no issues incase not downloading on mobile try on Laptop or Desktop.
Do I need to read a book?
For those who are preparing on there own book is quite essential. Since in the notes there are many topics which are not explicitly explained so in order to understand the concept its necessary to have a reference book. Please note that never ever use local author books which students use to pass university semester exams they will never help. Always follow standard textbooks.
Those who are in coaching institutes who don’t get much time to study from a book they may prefer not to but in case of important topics or confusions books are the best refuge. Although I have seen most of the coaching students having implicit faith on notes. 🙂
Which book to refer?
Its always preferred to read book that you have already studied during your BTech. In case you didn’t read any 🙂 like most of the engineers.
Following are the books that i would recommend-
